Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Petshub ("we", "us", "our") is run by CLN Tech Pty Ltd in Australia. This policy explains what information the Petshub app and this website (together, "Petshub") collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It's written to meet the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, username, email address and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google.
- Your pets: names, species, breed, birthday, weight, photos, and any health records you choose to add.
- Your content: posts, photos, videos, stories, reels, comments, polls, messages, community activity, Lost & Found reports and sightings.
- Pet sitting: sitting requests, offers, bids, reviews, and the details needed for payments and payouts (handled by Stripe, see section 5).
Information collected when you use Petshub
- Location: only for the features described in section 2.
- Usage and device information: which features you use, your device type and app version, and a push notification token so we can send you notifications.
2. Location
Petshub uses your device's location only for features you choose to use:
- Walks. When you start a walk, Petshub records your route, distance and time, including in the background with your screen off or the app closed, until you finish the walk. A notification shows while this is happening. Recording stops automatically after 3 hours, or after 20 minutes without a location update.
- Live location in chats. If you share your live location in a chat, the people in that chat can see your position, including while the app is in the background, until you stop sharing or the time you picked runs out (up to 8 hours). A notification shows while this is happening.
- Lost & Found. Reports include the location where a pet was lost or found. When you open the app, we save your approximate position so we can alert you to lost or found pets nearby and show you nearby search areas.
- Leaderboards. Your saved position is used to group you with people walking nearby. Other people see your name and points, never your location. You can hide yourself from all leaderboards with "Show me on leaderboards" on the walk progress screen.
You can turn off location access for Petshub in your phone's settings at any time. The rest of the app keeps working.
3. How we use your information
- To run Petshub's features, such as walks, Lost & Found alerts, chats, Petsfeed and pet sitting.
- To manage your account and send you emails about it, such as confirmations and password resets.
- To send the notifications you've turned on.
- To keep payments safe and to prevent fraud and misuse.
- To understand how Petshub is used, so we can improve it (analytics). We look at usage across many people, such as how many walks are taken each week, which features are popular, or how many lost pets are found. This covers location, walk and activity data, profile information and pet-sitting activity.
We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and Petshub doesn't show ads.
4. Who we share it with
- Other Petshub users, when you choose to: your public profile, posts, comments, messages, live location, Lost & Found reports, and pet-sitting requests or offers. If your account is private, only your followers see your posts.
- Service providers who run parts of Petshub for us, under contract and only to provide their service:
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in, hosted in Sydney, Australia.
- Stripe: pet-sitting payments and sitter payouts. Card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored by Petshub. Stripe also verifies sitters' identity for payouts.
- Google: "Continue with Google" sign-in, maps, place search and push notifications.
- Expo: delivering push notifications.
- When the law requires it.
5. Pet sitting and payments
When you book or provide pet sitting, we keep a record of the job, the agreed price, payments, payouts, refunds and any dispute. Stripe processes the payment. We keep payment records for as long as Australian tax law requires, even after you delete your account; they're kept without your name.
6. How long we keep it
- Detailed walk GPS points are deleted 30 days after the walk. We keep each walk's summary (distance, time, and a route with the first and last 200 metres removed, so it doesn't show where you live) until you delete it or your account.
- A live location share stops updating when it ends.
- Everything else is kept while your account is open, and deleted as described in section 7.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Home → your profile photo → Delete account), or follow the steps on our Delete your account page.
- Delete in 30 days: your account is hidden straight away, and you can restore it by signing in within 30 days.
- Delete now: your account and data are deleted straight away.
Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, reels, stories, comments, Lost & Found reports, walks, Paw Points, likes, follows, the reviews you wrote, and pets that only you look after. Messages you sent stay in the chats they were sent to, shown as "Deleted user". Pets you share go to a co-parent, and communities you own go to their longest-standing member. Payment records are kept without your name, as required for tax.
You can't delete your account while a pet-sitting job you're part of is booked or in progress, a payment is still being processed, or a dispute is open.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, by emailing privacy@petshub.app. You can edit most of it yourself in the app. If you're not happy with how we've handled a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
9. Age
Petshub is for people aged 16 and over. Pet sitting (posting a sitting request, offering to sit, and payments) is only for people aged 18 and over. If we learn that someone under 16 has an account, we'll delete it.
10. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls on our database so people can only see what they're allowed to, and private storage for chat attachments and pet documents. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will tell you if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app.
